Partners HealthCare System wanted to make an impact in the communities they serve through change in policy, systems, and the environment to support residents to make healthier choices and improve their overall well being. HRiA helped them to partner with MDPH to invest in the Mass in Motion Model in four communities: Revere, Chelsea, Lynn, and Salem. This investment has helped to create communities with greater access to healthy eating and active living; for example, helping leaders and community members to create farmers’ markets with SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), building more walkable sidewalks and paths making neighborhoods safer for everyone, and developing complete streets plans to guide future development, bike paths, and other community features.
