HRiA facilitated the State Health Improvement Planning (SHIP) process for Massachusetts which included formation of an Advisory Committee, a SHIP Planning Coalition, and an update of the existing State Health Assessment (SHA). The Massachusetts State Health Improvement Planning Coalition, a body of 65 representatives from diverse local, regional, and statewide entities whose policies and activities affect and influence health, was responsible for reviewing the assessment data; participating in three intensive HRiA facilitated planning sessions and working groups; and making recommendations for the final plan. The final plan focused on seven priorities, including health systems infrastructure as well as health related content areas and their related goals, measurable objectives, and strategies to address key public health needs. Following completion of the SHIP, HRiA facilitated an internal strategic planning process for the MA State Department of Public Health to meet guidelines for PHAB Accreditation http://www.mass.gov/eohhs/docs/dph/health-planning/accreditation/dph-strategic-plan-2014-16.pdf.
