In 2013, HRiA facilitated a two-day retreat for the National Head Start Association to reorient board members to the changing structure and vision of the organization, and to develop goals and strategies for:

  • Board orientation and development (including board member expectations and competencies)
  • Committee engagement, outreach, and expectations
  • Governance structure
  • State affiliate engagement
  • Fundraising

The final report from the planning retreat included the results of a board self-evaluation survey, professional development topics for the upcoming year, a board member competency profile, and operating principles for the board of directors.
