Elena Bengochea is a Senior Associate on the Policy & Practice team at HRiA. Previously, she was an intern for the Center for Prisoner Health and Human Rights in Providence, RI, where she directed a video production project about Hepatitis C for use by incarcerated people. As a student at Brown University, where she earned a Bachelor Arts in Public Health, she coordinated a tutoring and enrichment program that pairs college students with youth in refugee families to help ease the process of transition. Ms. Bengochea is passionate about immigrants’ rights, mental health advocacy, and prison reform.
