Joe Kim is the Associate Director for Training and Technical Assistance at The HAVI. He has been working in youth development and violence intervention for the past 10 years. Most recently, he served as Community Health Director at RYSE Center, a community based organization in Richmond, California. Throughout his time at RYSE, he played an integral role in the development of a Hospital-Based Violence Intervention Program that serves youth in West Contra Costa County. Joe is passionate about working in partnership with youth to create innovative, healing-centered approaches to health models, interventions, programs, and spaces. He believes it is necessary to support communities in resisting systemic oppression and violence while creating safe spaces to build sustainable alternatives. He is dedicated to partnering with communities to actualize healing-centered practices and policies that are responsive to shifting socio-political climates. Joe received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
